Initially, Christianity in Japan was limited to Catholicism. Then Protestants appeared, and in the middle of the 19th century the Orthodox Church was organized. Today in the country there are more than one and a half million Christians, of which only 10 thousand are Orthodox. However, according to unofficial data, the last number is much larger — 30 thousand people. Such a difference in information is due to the fact that not all followers of the Orthodox Church visit temples constantly.
