Bugorks can be shot down with a spatula or cleaned with sandpaper, fossa, hollows and cracks are sure to put it down, but if the wall has very noticeable bumps, it is better to use finishing putting them to mask them (unless of course the situation is so deplorable and does not require leveling the walls with drywall or plaster).
